My Brother

Hi all,

I just found out this morning that my oldest brother Gene, who writes at Turning the Pages of Life, has two blood clots in one of his legs. At this point he is taking an anticoagulant and will be getting further diagnosis soon. Unfortunately that's all I know at this point.

To compound matters he was out of town when he discovered this, so his wife drove to where he is now, near Sacramento, CA to be with him. We're not sure how severe or mild of a problem it is yet, and obviously we're hoping for the latter.

I know some of you have become acquainted with him through his blog, and I'll keep you updated as I learn more.

My posts may be a bit sporadic for a bit. I just don't feel much like writing right now. Thanks in advance for prayers, positive vibes or thoughts.

Jeff B

You know that without Gene…we may have never found you….and now you are EVERYwhere…

You’ve got my prayers for Gene's speedy diagnosis…wise medical help…cute nurses…safe travel….peace of heart for his wife and kids…and the psycho-mom…(as well as you and the other brother.) I hope he’s back out fighting fires and slaughtering ducks again real soon.

Give him my best…there are a few excellent hospitals in that area….maybe he has his laptop and will start blogging again….

This kind of news is always off-putting. I'll be thinking of you and of your brother too, wishing him the best treatment and cure.

Jeff, as someone who suffers from a rare clotting disorder, I can empathize. Take a deep breath, say your prayers, and lean on your faith.

All will be well.

Wow, that's awful. How did he find out this? It's scary how things can just develop. I hope that he's ok an he gets treated for this.

God bless!

I'm sorry Jeff. I too was a regular visitor at your brothers blog. I send all the good vibes that things will turn out fine. What Katherine said is right on the money. We found you through Gene. :)

To all of you-

My heartfelt thank you for the nice words, prayers, etc.

Looks like everything should be fine with Gene. Blood thinners should disolve the clots and he will be back to his old self soon.

I'll post an update soon. He should have results by sometime Saturday letting him know how the treatment is working.

Thank you again, I really appreciate friends like you.

Jeff - You don't even need to ask. Prayers in abundance coming your way. Healing for your brother and peace for the family. Do what you have to do. We will be here waiting and expecting a good news report.

Praying.....yep....

I'll say a prayer.

This happened to my sister as a complication of being on the pill and smoking. She quit the pill. I guess it was easier than quiting smoking.

I hope your brother comes out of this fine. He probably will, but I know it's scary.
