October POW Photos

Here are October's pictures for our Portrait of Words writing challenge. Due date for the stories will be Oct 13-15 (Mon-Wed)

I won't go into all the guidelines for putting your story together on this post, but if you are unsure about any of them or are participating for the first time, please click here and it will take you to the information you need. The quick version is this: Look at the pictures, get an idea and write a story.

One clarification though. My intention with the Wild Card options is for you to select only one of them to use in your story. Still. I'm certainly not going to get too hung up on the rules, so if you decide to use them all anyway so be it.

I've got some updating to do on my sidebar over the weekend too. A few names need to be added, so if you don't see yours up there yet, I should have you included soon. If Sunday rolls around and I've inadvertently left you name off the list, please let me know and I'll be sure to get it taken care of.

I'll post the POW icon on my sidebar with a link to this post so if you need to reference these photos again, it should make it easy to find.

Happy Writing all!

I saved the pics and will start working on next months contribtion. This seems decidedly MALE. It will be interesting to write from that perspective!

Hope that you and yours have a great weekend Jeff.

Jennifer- Interesting observation, as I didn't try to skew these in any one direction. That's the beauty of this though. What your eye picks up on will likely be very different than another participant. It'll be fun to see where this one goes.

Katherine- I think you did a great job with the days you had last month. I wouldn't have guessed that it was a hurried effort. Not completely sure about the contents either. You can click on the picture to enlarge it, but even then it's a bit ambiguous. Cell phone, camera, or...?

Crystalchick- My guess is there will be some winners again. I have a couple of vague ideas for a storyline, but until I start writing, I'm not exactly sure which direction it'll go.

Hmm. This is a challenge. I have no idea what that truck thing is. This should prove interesting...

Akelamalu- The first challenge was so much fun. Like you, I'm looking forward to this one as well.

B Roan- That's great! Thanks for taking up the challenge.

Crazycath- I liked that truck because it didn't have any type of name on it. Figured that way it could be interpreted differently by each person.

I love looking at the pictures and then leaving them be for a bit and then returning to them again and again. Each time something more/new hits me, it's fun.

Have a great weekend Jeff.

I love the total departure of the different kinds of photos. And it's so true that everyone will see something different based on their own past experiences and stuff, like the truck picture, for instance. What immediately caught my attention is the business on the other side. What is it? What could be going on inside? I wouldn't want to unduly influence anyone else's perceptions by saying what I decided. lol ;)

Dianne- I experience that as well. There are so many different possibilities for each of these.

Cherie- That's funny, because other than the truck, what caught my attention in that photograph was the pair of parking meters.

I'm not sure if we are to use the metal case in the corner or what I can't quite make out with my tired old eyes that is in the pocket. Time will tell I reckon :)

Jeff B said...

Lu- You can use any or all of the items in that pic. The photos can be enlarged by clicking on then, but even so, it doesn't make deciphering what's inside the bag clear. You can use that to your advantage I suppose and make it just about anything.

That's enough to make me stay right here in the cheap seats......

Three DAYS?!!!

Oy.

Mel- She's such a smarty pants, isn't she.

Not sure I've got the time to commit to this at the moment, but it's caught my imagination. Excellent idea. Might experiment with a selection of my own photos picked at random.
