Airing Out My Laundry

What do we have here?

That would be a spiffy new washer and dryer. Not that we necessarily wanted to buy these, but considering our old dryer had been slowly becoming less and less efficient at doing its job and the washer decided to completely die the other day, we were more or less forced into it. I talked to a couple of different repair techs about the old set and they both said, given the age of them and the price of repairing them, we'd probably be better off biting the bullet and going new.

Oh well. I suppose we would have just used that money for something frivolous like food or clothes.

So much more fun dumping into an appliance don't you think? NOT!

~~~
Remember the ridiculously expensive light bulb we bought for our TV a few weeks back? Guess what? About a week after installing it, the TV died. We took it into the shop and of course they couldn't find anything wrong with it. We brought it back home and it worked for a day or two and then died again. GAAAAHHHH!!!
~~~

Did I mention. . . at the beginning of the month, Lisa was hanging up the shower curtain in our downstairs bathroom, lost her balance and came crashing down, bruising both her leg and her pride, along with sending a small flower vase into the pedestal sink. All in all she was fine, but the sink ended up with a rather large crack in it.

~~~
Anyone see a theme here?
I don't know about you all, but I for one am quite happy the month of March is behind us for this year.
~~~

I've been doing some research on some different flooring products to use in my business and as a result, my internet time has been spent doing that instead of much blogging. If you haven't seen me by your place lately, that's why.

I thought you quite blogging. Well, I did.

I can see why you are glad March is out of here. Quite expensive. I hope things smooths out for all of you.

Hope Lisa is healing up nicely. Those falls are awful. Last big fall I had I fractured my elbow.

Have a terrific day. :)

Jeff, I hear your pain at the expense of the new washer and dryer. I am still holding on to my old one and praying it will hold on a little longer. LOL

I am sorry to hear that your wife, Lisa, fell. That sounds like something I would do.

I think we have all been busy. I have done very little post. We are having a new deck and carport built.

Like you, I am glad that April is finally here.

Take care and see you when we see you!

Hammer- What scares me is that we still have a lot of appliances and fixture left in the house.

Sandee- She actually fared pretty well. Thanks

Teamster- You're wise to not utter her mane.

Pam- They do a great job on the clothes, but you're right, they don't give them away with blue chip stamps.

I'm thinking you've decided to start associating way too much with Murphy and are getting a full dosage of him and his freaking law!

In the past 3 months, we've had roof repairs, chimney repairs, oven repairs, and paid a very expensive plumber to put in 125 feet of new sewer pipe. Of course the sewer pipe ran down the edge of our gravel driveway, which means now that it has settled, we have to hire someone to level the dirt and have new rock brought in. Since I don't have that nice new siding, this is the year to paint the exterior of my house. I'm hoping the washer and dryer hold out for a while. My fingers are crossed, but it looks like I'm firmly ensconced in repair hell! The good thing. Now that we are mostly moved into only one house instead of two, we'll have half the repairs!

It always seems like once one thing goes, others follow. I'm glad your wife is okay. Nice washer/dryer though.

Happy April! LOL

Gee....be thankful it was only three?

Just sayin'...

Step away from March my friend...come into the light

I hate when inanimate objects get together and conspire

late at night I can hear my heating system whispering to the washer/dryer and it's not good ;)

hugs to Lisa

I'll be dropping my laundry off on my way to lunch. Thanks. ;-)

Your brother Gene has hired a gypsy to put a curse on you- only explanation..

It's sod's law isn't it, everything goes at once! :(

And I've been sabotaging my washer and dryer in hopes of them breaking down and they keep running. Damn Maytags!

I have front-load envy.

Jeff, the good news is: It's April. The bad news is: you still suck.

Cynthia and I started hanging insulation this afternoon. I hate insulation.

Sounds like a bit of an expensive month. But at least Lisa didn't break any bones. There's been quite a lot of that going on in the bloggosphere.

Schmoop said...

It's amazing how these things happen at the same time. Yikes. Cheers Jeff!!

March...comes in like a Lion and out like a Lamb, all should be well here on out !!

You have used up your quota of bad luck.

Ron said...

Oh god, Jeff...I freaking hate when this happens!#?!

And I know how you feel too, because a few months ago I lost my dvd player, my VCR, and my alarm clock all within the same two months.

Grrrrrrr!

But man, that washer and dryer look too cool!

Glad to hear Lisa's ok.

*you already know my feelings about hanging a new shower curtain, right??

March is over, so you're on to a much better April!!

Take care, bud!

Jeni- I wish someone would give that guy Murphy a one way ticket to anywhere else USA!

BJ- I hope your combined households make for less expensive repairs. I'm sure it will.

Nitebyrd- Cycles of threes. Why is that anyway?

Mel- The sink is still functional, so long as we don't let the water get too high. Replacing it and the TV will have to wait for better $'s times.

Bond- I hear ya. March did have a dark feel to it this year.

Dianne- They're all really aliens here just to torment us humans!

Jay- Bring all you want, just bring some quarters too. We need all the help we can get to recoup the cost.

Kay- That was indeed quite an ugly run of luck.

Buffalo- I think you may be on to something there!

Akelamalu- I've never heard of "Sod's Law" This side of the pond we say Murphy's Law. I'm guessing they are the same.

Dana- Our old set were Maytag's. Apparently they are much better machines these days, but we still went with the LG's

Gene- I think they should call that stuff ichsulation. ICK!!!

Travis- Very true. Things can be replaced much easier than bones mended.

Matt- Amazing and frustrating I'd say.

King of NYH- It came and went and I'm glad it's gone.

Nessa- I think so. Bring on the good luck please.

Ron- I actually thought of your shower curtain woes after this. These machines weren't cheap, but they do a fantastic job on the clothes, so I guess they're worth it.

There are times like this... and they suck. Thank goodness Lisa's ok. Look on the bright side... due to lack of fundage, maybe she won't buy any bananas on her next trip to the supermarket.

Kelly H-Y said...

YIKES ... glad Lisa is OK!!! You guys have had an interesting run in the housewares department! The washer/dryer looks nice ... just think, they're so efficient, you'll probably make up for the expense with your electric bill savings!

Amazing Gracie said...

Aye, the Ides of March...
What's up with the "three" thing? Three dead celebs, three rounds of dead appliances...I thought three was a lucky number! Silly me.
I'm glad no one was seriously injured in the making of this post.
~~~Blessings~~~
I feel that with the high cost of these new washers & dryers, they should come with maid service included!
I enjoy your blog! (well, maybe not the part where Lisa fell)
didn‘t want you of all people to miss this one
Even if you have to mute it…watch the whole thing…it would have been fun to see play out in person…
Where is an extended warranty when you need one.
Hope April is a better month but just in case you and your family should stay off of ladders.
whaong said...
This is something we must get much attention for. Buying machines must considerate warranty period, if needs look for the longer one.
Jeff B said...
Anndi- I love it. You were able to work in a banana reference! hehehe
Kelly- It was getting to the pint where we were afraid to use anything around here.
Gracie- I'd like to know who invented the three thing bit and ring their neck. Guess it could be worse though. . . could have been the five thing bit.
Zeelee- Thanks for coming by. do drop in again.
Katherine- I made it through the whole thing with the volume on. That was a great. Thanks for sharing it.
Anndi- That was a good one!
Dr John- Good advice. Our feet are firmly planted on the ground.
Jeff B said...
Whaong- We got the extended warranty on this set. Lesson learned.
I am experiencing a large amount of appliance envy.
I am sorry Lisa fell but I sure am glad that she is OK.
Jeff, I've been through those spin cycles when things break.
We went through that with our dishwasher back in the fall, just as all of the Wall Street disaster was unfolding. And not long after that a vintage rocking horse fell on my little toe. At least the horse didn't fall to pieces, but my toe felt like it did.
Ok here is my question. Does the washer/dryer count as 1 or 2 items? Cause that old rule of three......
